Heard on the Porch

You look younger than your SPF!

My Starbucks addiction leads to the reading of such pithy propoganda. I'm a fan of the "Heard on the Porch" campaign they've launched...next up, trying that raspberry mocha frappucino.

Curious, do you really think Starbuck's coffee drinks are that tasty? You must, but why? I usually find better at independent cafes. It's counterintuitive because Sbux has such a giant infrastructure but indie coffee always tastes best to me.

Starbucks 'treat' drinks are really more like 'desserts' to my way of thinking. I couldn't imbibe them daily. Nutritionally speaking, I find these big dessert coffee drinks worrisome.

Check out that Hungry-Girl website for the lowdown on what Starbucks drinks are low-cal and what ones are bellybusters. I think she's demonstrated that at least one of those unusual Sbux concoctions is equivalent to eating an extremely large meal at McDonalds. However, there are also some that are delicious and light and which get top ratings.

But finally (for me) price is also a factor. Paying $6 for a tower of coffee and flavored foam, is too much. I find the best deal is to simply buy an espresso. I get all the caffeine benefits, at only a fraction of the price.

Oh well that's my view of Starbucks. Good luck to all who are addicted to this chain. May God have mercy on your souls.
